“Distelfink” Cantenn by Eric Armstrong

Canteen made from two turned cherry rings, glued together at the center via a lap joint. The painted end plates were turned and glued to the ring after all interior surfaces were coated with beeswax. The “Distelfink” was painted on the outer surface. A curly maple band was added around the center and the bung area was made from cherry and maple. The stopper was turned from maple.

The strap holders were made from steel rod, and the strap was attached using a formed, sheet metal staple.
