Allen Martin after John Mewhirter, Shippenburg Township, Cumberland Co. PA, Circa 1828

Copied from a original, this rifle is a hybrid of Maryland, Bedford Co. as well as Dauphin Co. making this a very cool rifle from that golden age timeframe. Stocked in sugar maple, Chambers late Ketland flintlock, single trigger and a 46-1/4". 40 caliber Getz barrel. A mix of raised & incise carving an the engraved, pierced Q shaped 4 piece patchbox give the rifle a elegant decoration.
