J&S Hawken by Louie Parker

This rifle was made from photos and a very poor memory. (I had handled the the orginal some eight years ago.) This J&S Hawken can now be seen in Jim Gordon's book, the gun itself is in a private collection. I had no photo of the toe plate and front sight, so they were patterned from another gun. The patch box shows a good example of the folk art animals that are found on Hawken rifles. This rifle is 56" overall with a 38" bbl. 1 1/8 at breech and tapers to 1 1/16 54 cal.
