The Horn Book: January 2010

The new issue of The Horn Book from The Honourable Company of Honers has been sent to members. Once again it is a beautiful issue with a lot of informative information. The painting on the cover is by Bob Albrecht.

This is an article on Erv Tschanz one of the Master Horners in the Guild.

It has been interesting reading the article on North Carolina Banded Powder Horns by Mark Ewing.

This issue also has information about the 14th annual Meeting at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum at Historic Roscoe Village in Coshocton, Ohio. The show will be Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13. Mel Hankla will give his portrayal of Simon Kenton following the awards dinner.

Other articles include "Safe and Effective Storage of Cow Horns", "Tansel Horns in Oregon Museums" with a lot of photographs, and "Recreating the Original Fort Montgomery Powder Horn".

Membership in The Honorable Company of Horners is $15.00 for the first year and $30.00 following years.
